DEWI GOCH

This photo was published in 1943 in the British canine magazine, Our Dogs. His proportions are rectangular and correct. Proportions are fundamental to breed type and increasing numbers of Welsh springers that are almost square and definitely leggy are being shown and winning in the USA at this time. Dewi's bone and body look very good. Interestingly, he is a bit high in the rear (some judges think that this is a soft topline, but it is not) as has been seen in current Welsh springers, too. One other trait that Dewi exhibits is his coat: it is a flat coat with what appears to be naturally moderate feathering. Dewi is a lovely example of the breed.
